SUNDAY SCHEDULING
A three-month schedule of all Sunday church worship and social assignments will be on the downstairs bulletin board for the period Oct 1- Dec 31. Persons can sign up for various duties until September 14th.  The leaders who do schedules will meet to fill in blank Sundays with names of those trained or who have indicated a willingness to serve. A three-month schedule will be published in the October newsletter.
Persons will then be responsible for finding their own substitutes for Sundays that they are not able to be present.  The church office can no longer keep abreast of who is/is not available for given Sundays.  The Vicar and Vestry believe this will be a way to encourage more participation in the much needed ministries that support our worship and common life.
PICNIC SIGN-UP POSTER
Don't forget to add your name to the sign-up poster downstairs in the undercroft for the annual church picnic at the Mumaughs on Sunday, September 19.  Knowing who is bringing what to share will help greatly in planning.  Thanks!
CAROLYN PUGH
Carolyn has a surgeon to address her need for a new knee.  The first step will be to implant new bone, and then the actual knee transplant will follow.  Carolyn can be contacted at her daughter's address in Maryland:

CURSILLO
Are you looking for a means to jump start your Christian journey?  To deepen your connection to Christ?  To explore Christian action in your world?  A three-day Cursillo weekend may be just what you're looking for.

The Autumn Cursillo weekend, Oct 14-17, will be held at the diocesan church camp on beautiful Petit Jean Mountain.  Offering a series of lay talks, a variety of worship experiences, and opportunities for learning and reflection, a Cursillo weekend, as those who have attended will tell you, can be an important step in enhancing one's faith.  Besides all of that, the food is good, the music toe-tapping, and the setting spectacular.

To learn more or to secure an application, please speak with Larry or Laura Shoffner (253-5367), who will both be serving on the team, or with Fr. Ben.  Fees and other information is available on line at the Arkansas Cursillo website: cursillo-ar.com.  Partial scholarship help is available from St. James’.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY:
JUDY GODFREY ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2
MARTY JOHNSON ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3
HEALING SERVICE
The Wednesday healing service begins again on Wednesday, September 1.  Laying-on-of-Hands and Anointing for healing is available after the 10AM service each Sunday.   Those wishing to receive this sacrament should remain in the church.   After a short delay for people to clear the sanctuary, the service will begin at the altar rail.
GUATEMALAN MOTHER INFANT PROGRAM
New pictures of the Mothers and Infants sponsored by St. James' are on the bulletin board downstairs in the undercroft.
SEPTEMBER STEWARDSHIP NEWSLETTERS
Please find these (and take a copy) in the tract rack in the church entryway or in the rack downstairs in the undercroft.
PLEASE UPDATE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION (if you haven't already!)
The Diocese of Arkansas is asking folks to update their contact information. There are some cards to do that in the rack in the church entryway as well as a poster with the cards attached downstairs in the undercroft.
EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY
St. Thomas, Springdale, has opened their EfM group to participants beyond their own church community.  Brandon Hudson, the EfM mentor at St. Thomas, is recruiting participants for the next academic cycle which begins Sunday, September 12.  Participants will meet in the St. Thomas' Fellowship Hall at 5:30 PM.

For more information, contact Brandon at 479-502-2784 or bhjavajunkie@yahoo.com. Here is a link for more information on EfM  and here is a link to St. Thomas' website, with directions to the church.
FEED MY SHEEP DONATIONS AT SUNDAY BREAKFAST
Feeding the hungry in our community is a top priority at St. James’.  In addition to donating $3 or whatever you can for your delicious breakfast, please bring a can of food to share with our friends at Flint Street.
FLINT STREET FELLOWSHIP
As a new school year begins, the groceries at Flint Street are so important for families trying to feed their children.  We always need peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, dry and hot cereal, tuna and canned fruit.  Thanks for sharing God's abundance with those in need in our community.
