Our People
St. James' is led by our Ministry Support Team and Vicar, The Rev. Ben Helmer. The Rev. Betsy Porter and The Rev. John Burton are presiding at the Eucharist and exercising other priestly duties. The Senior Warden, Karen Pryor, represents the Bishop's leadership of our congregation.
The others who make up the Ministry Support Team include Laura Shoffner, preacher; Susan Vanselow, Pastoral Care Coordinator; Jane Acord, Eucharistic Visitor Coordinators; David Miller, Eucharistic Minister and Worship Leader Coordinator. Regular team meetings are held and all the people of St. James' are invited into these meetings as participants.
Our Vestry serve as overseers of the physical plant, manage our finances, and lead us in our growth as a people of God in Eureka Springs and Carroll County. The Vestry Minutes from their monthly meetings give a glimpse of the activity at St. James. Our Staff serve by being the focus for our communication, maintaining our plant, and enhancing our worship. Licensed ministries include our worship teams and Eucharistic Visitors. The monthly assignments are posted on the web -- as the Preacher/Celebrant Rota, the Serving Rota, and EV Assignments -- and in the sacristy. Our service to the church, the community, and to the world is facilitated through many people.
